I found Bobo Bay on Instagram, and I quickly fell in love with it. Despite not actually ever playing any Sonic games, I've always had a fondness for Chao. Chao are really one of the cutest things ever created if you really think about it, and I've wanted a way to play something dedicated to them like Chao Gardens. So when I come across a game on my feed thats exactly that, it of course catches my eye. The dev is funny, Bobos are cute, and you aren't Sonic, you're a girl (I'm a girl!).
What the hell is happening on Starling Isle?
Bobo Bay is a creature collecter, but you know that already. Its world is really, really cool. One of the most intriging parts of Bobo Bay to me is that its kinda? Post-Apocalyptic? If im interpreting things right, almost everyone is a zombie. The NPCs you interact with have stitches and colorful skin, and Parfait has a skeleton arm. While talking about her life and goals, she talks about how she 'woke up' two years ago and how things have changed for her since then, and NPCs refer to the 'old world'. Its such an interesting part of the world that doesn't ever take the forefront but makes me so interested in what is happening outside the small little bit we get to see in-game.
Every day, you get to go exploring so small little sandbars and islands to gather matrials to boost your bobos or make money. On these islands, you aren't alone and you're being watched. Every so often, you'll come across a vent in the ground, tubes from island to island, or a camera looking at you.
The first time I encountered one of the strange anomalies, I found a speaker with someone naamed "Tomwell" as the person speaking. They make aa report about how "Humanoids persist intact beneath the white." and reports about ice storage?
My girlfriend Pepper
Pepper is one of the only other NPCs in the game. Shes a baker and a cook, and during the saturday market she sells pies to Parfait. She shows up at nights every few days and speaks to Parfait about her life on the island.
